Evolution of Chevrolet Trucks

Chevrolet is widely known and easily recognizable as a classic household brand among consumers worldwide. Its history of utilizing available technology as early as possible gave it the leading edge among many of America’s classic car brands, and its success is only a testament to its innovative ideas. Beginning with its very first model, the Series C Classic six in 1913, the Chevrolet brand was propelled into the automotive industry as a major player. Today, Chevrolet is known for being able to cater to an expanded global market at a reasonable price point, which certainly defines its popularity.

One of Chevrolet’s top sellers throughout time has been their line of light-duty trucks with production starting as early as 1918 and continuing through today. Although the design, the technology, and the capability has greatly improved over the years, still boasts that bowtie emblem that proves your vehicle is as trusted as any other Chevrolet. 1918 – The Chevrolet One-Ton Truck
This classic style truck was the very first of Chevrolets truck. The open-air cab featured a wooden seat backing with a 3.6 Cylinder, 36 horsepower engine. The truck was intended to be an affordable option for its drivers, and came as either a cowl and chassis or an optional 8 post top for covering your loads.

1938 – The Chevrolet Half-Ton Truck
First in the line of Chevrolet Trucks that resemble a more modern-day truck body. Covered cab with a standard 75’’ inch bed featuring swept fenders and a new front bumper. This was the 2nd of the Chevrolet trucks to feature their 6-cylinder engine.

1955 – The Chevrolet 3124 Series Cameo Carrier
This truck featured many car-like style amenities including a more luxurious interior for passengers, wrap around glass rear windshield, and was considered extremely elegant in its time. The vehicle boasted a whopping 123 horsepower with its 3.85 inline six engine, standard for Chevrolet at this time period. This truck would go on to inspire the world-famous El Camino.

1973 – Chevrolet C30 One-Ton Dually
This massive truck was the first crew-cab dual rear wheel truck to hit the market. Considered as one of the first heavy duty trucks, this vehicle enabled its drivers to haul more than ever with the vehicles massive towing capacity. Seating six, this vehicle was great for the whole family with a highly functional use, and also featured the first radio antenna embedded inside the windshield glass.

1999 – Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The Silverado was originally made in 1975, but this year’s model was considered a strong standout among its ancestors and would push this particular truck into greatness. A more muscular platform with a much more efficient body gave the all-new v8 engine more power than ever.

2018 – Centennial Edition Silverado
Stronger and more capable than ever, this Chevrolet Model gives credence to its history by remaining one of the best-selling trucks on the market. A 6.2L, V8 engine gives a new definition to strength and power, and is still one of America’s favorite light duty trucks.
