2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Coming Soon
With the growing popularity of electric vehicles, it’s no surprise that Chevrolet would introduce an all-electric version of the popular Silverado pickup truck. If you are in the Los Angeles, Anaheim, or Temecula areas, and are curious about the newly revealed 2024 Silverado EV, come on down to Mark Christopher Auto Center!
Slated to go on sale in 2023, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado is an all-electric pickup with a price range from around $40,000 for the base WT trim to $107,000 for the fully loaded RST model. Chevy says these two prices represent the highest and lowest of the Silverado pricing spectrum with all other trims falling in between. Given the competition, the Silverado tries to match up to all the other electric cars and trucks available today. The Silverado EV offers up to 664 horsepower and 400 miles of range with up to 10,000 pounds worth of tow rating.
Batteries, Performance, and Range
The only thing that the Silverado and the Silverado EV have in common, other than a similar length and height, is their names. The Silverado EV is even assembled at a totally different factory than the regular Silverado. The Silverado EV has independent front and rear suspensions, with front and rear electric motors, and an available 200.0 kWh battery pack with 400 miles of estimated range. The built-in electrical architecture is capable of charging 800 volts and 350 kW which enables it an additional 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes of charging. The range of the $40,000 WT is expected to be between 250 to 300 miles per charge.
Interior and Towing
The RST reveals a sporty-looking interior with a red, white, and blue color scheme along with a fixed glass roof. There is extra storage space in the console complete with plenty of USB outlets which is made possible with the room-saving column-mounted shifter. There is a mixture of physical and interactive controls while boasting flashy graphics on the massive 17-inch center screen with an 11-inch digital gauge cluster. The Silverado EV variant will offer 20,000 pounds of towing capacity and 1200 pounds of payload capabilities.
Bed and Tailgate
The Chevy Silverado EV is similar in design to the Avalanche, but Chevy says this is totally coincidental. But just like in the Avalanche, the MultiFlex Midgate separates the bed from the cab and can be lowered in a 60/40 split that leaves room for a rear passenger while also increasing the effective bed length. You can also remove the rear glass and store it in the folding section that enlarges the opening to the bed even more. The Silverado EV has an available tonneau cover that provides weatherproofing for any of your items stored in the bed.
Air Springs and Charging Capability
The Silverado EV features four-wheel steering that improves low-speed motility and helps with high-speed towing. It is also equipped with air springs that can raise or lower the truck by 2-inches. Offering up to 10 sockets, including a 240-volt outlet in the bed, the Silverado EV can supply power to other sources. Provided you have the right cable, the Silverado EV can provide up to 10.2 kW for camping equipment or even another vehicle.
